Dr. John Caras, M.D.
I graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in biology and chemistry which reflected my deep interest in science from childhood. I obtained my medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and did my internship at St.Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona specializing in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
After my internship I joined the U.S. Navy and served for three years as a Naval Flight Surgeon. My tours of duty included Keflavic, Iceland and aboard the Aircraft Carrier Independence in the Mediterranian. After my naval service I resumed and completed advanced medical training with a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in clinical Endocrinology at Indiana University School of Medicine.
I practiced in Indianapolis for a short period and then moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where I have been for 31 years. While in Wichita Falls I joined the Navy Reserve and served 20 years in the U.S. Navy retiring at the rank of Captain.
I am Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Board eligible in Endocrinology. I have participated in clinical studies, written journal articles, and have served as a consultant and speaker for numerous pharmaceutical companies. I have been recognized by the American Diabetes Association for achievement and recognition for delivering the highest quality of diabetic care.
